First School Project

Renting an unfinished building that was meant to be a row of shops and converting it into the first Child Africa School was not without it's challenges.

Word spread fast across the mountains, far and wide that this school was to be for poor and disadvantaged children, whose families could not afford education.
Local communities in and around Kabale watched the transformation with eagerness, in the hope their child would qualify for a place.
The founder and managing director Julie Soberg held meetings with parents / guardians in and around Kabale.
Making sure the communities received the correct information was important.
When the school opened, the idea was to enrol 70 pupils.
By February 2009 there were 320 pupils attending the school and the school was at its maximum pupil capacity
